London’s bookish history

Walk in the footsteps of London’s greatest writers

Four people standing and talking outdoors near the London Bridge niche. A man with red hair and a vest smiling, another man in a baseball cap and purple shirt, a woman with blonde hair and a white jacket, and a woman with dark hair and glasses wearing a green jacket.

London might well be the city with the richest literary history in the world. Round every corner is a scene, a park or a pub that has inspired at least one of the greatest writers in the English language.

Welcome to Bookmarked London. We’re a group of London writers, poets and actors who are passionate about London’s rich bookish and literary history.

We run private tours for corporate groups and school groups. We also run a range of publicly bookable tours through GuruWalk:

London’s Greatest Writers: A 90-minute walk around London Bridge in the footsteps of Shakespeare, Dickens, Chaucer and Keats.

London’s Literary Ghosts: A 1-hour 45-minute walk from Charing Cross to St Paul’s in the footsteps of Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker a number of notable ghosts.

We bring London’s literary history to life with wit, heart, and the occasional bit of gossip and/or swearing (though will tone this down if there are kids on the tour).

We run publicly bookable tours and pub crawls in the footsteps of some of the capital’s greatest writers.

We also run bespoke private tours. I will script and devise a route based on your favourite authors for differents group, and generally do stag/hen-dos, book club outings and birthday parties.

Four people smiling and taking a selfie in front of a historical building with half-timbered architecture, a brick wall, and an outdoor poster about Shakespeare's Globe.
Adam was super knowledgeable and the tour was accessible, a gentle walk and packed with facts and interaction. 5 stars, no notes. The parents loved it. Thank you!

Group of five young adults smiling outdoors, with buildings and decorative lampposts in the background.
Adam’s a wonderfully engaging storyteller and guide, and this experience was really insightful, quirky and enjoyable — I’d wholeheartedly recommend it!
